STOP THE WAR COALITION
was formed on 21 September 2001
at a public meeting of over 2,000 people in London.
The aim of the Coalition is to stop the war currently declared by the United States and its allies against ‘terrorism’.
Whilst it condemns the attacks on New York and feels the greatest compassion for those who tragically lost their lives on 11 September 2001, it nevertheless asserts that any war will do nothing more than simply add to the numbers of innocent dead and cause untold suffering through consequent political and economic instability.
Stop the War Coalition is committed to opposing any racist backlash generated by this war and will fight to stop the erosion of civil rights.
